Single Parallel Island (SPI)
These applications are mainly used for continuous running power generation. We offer standard and site specific solutions for the control of traditional diesel and gas powered power generation units, along with Electronic engine based prime movers.
These applications allow the control and monitoring of single and multiple engine arrangements for ‘Baseload’, variable import/export control or a site specific load demand requirement arrangement.
Our designs can be tailored to suit a specific installation, engine type or operating regime for CHP (Combined Heat and Power), where we control the engine, synchronisation and ancillary equipment such as fans, pumps and valves.
We are able to adopt an application based around the design and manufacture of control solutions for the landfill gas, waste gas and CHP market. Our single parallel software allows a gen-set to run in constant parallel with the mains supply, with a facility to operate in island mode if required.
- The control solution differs from the standard SPtM application mode of operation in that SPI does not have control of the primary source feeder breaker, in this case the mains, MCB
- The generator can be run in ‘Base load’ parallel operation, the software functions allow the load to be controlled by an external signal such as ambient or water temperature
- The control system is based around the InteliSys NT controller, providing the design engineer to fully satisfy the requirements of valve control required for more complex CHP applications
