Engineers from Applied Power Engineering provided a complete solution for this National grid project. It involved the supply of two ComAp InteliSys controllers and PLC, controlling the bus tie breaker. The system is used to back up the control room and auxiliaries of a coal power station (4x 250 MW). InteliSys controllers are able to control the two stand-by engines in island and in parallel with mains (after mains comes back, InteliSys provides reverse no-break transfer). The PLC provides the BTB control to interconnect the feeders in the event that one of the engines fail.
